    Topic
"Project Closure" presented by Robert "Bob" Emborski, PMP

Some projects go out with a bang, and some with a whimper. Successfully executed projects usually have some recognizable event that marks the formal turnover of the project’s result to the customer or user. Every project plan should include a formal sign-off event to mark the end of the project team’s responsibility. Even projects that are plagued with trouble, and finally come to completion after scope changes, turf wars, resource losses, cost and schedule overruns and other problems, deserve to be ceremonially closed with the customer.

This presentation will explore the details of project closure planning and execution by drawing information from multiple sources including several PM textbooks and the published PM methodologies of several different organizations. It is based on materials assembled by the presenter for Syracuse University’s School of Information Studies graduate school course, IST645: Managing Information Projects.
