What are Communities of practice (CoP)?

Communities of Practices (CoPs) are informal meetings, webinars, and events designed to bring people together to explore a topic of interest. Specifically, we want to explore topics that interest Project and Program Management practitioners. Attendees will be able to learn and share experiences with each other and interact with experts in the topic area. Topic areas are selected from general surveys and input from the PMI Rochester membership.

PMI Rochester, in collaboration with Digital Rochester, is excited to bring the Rochester Agile community together in this Networking mixer and CoP session.

TOPIC

AGILE Development is a critical topic for today’s knowledge workers to understand. Speed, agility and targeted functionality development will be critical to survival in a digitally transforming business world. How will this evolution impact you? Your business? Your career? Join us for a fun networking event that includes drinks, food, information, and learning games designed to help you form a network with people from local organizations to aid in your personal AGILE journey.

David Sherburne and Paula Haefner will tag team the topic of AGILE looking first at why AGILE matters in business and then quickly diving into the topic of practical AGILE implementation.  Paula will contrast Agile concepts and methods to fundamental PMBOK Guides and Standards and explore the practical implementation considerations when forming AGILE teams.  After the presentations, Abhilash Chandran will break out the games and get us mingling together solving fun problems in order to enhance your understanding of the concepts presented. This event is intended to be a launch pad for monthly formal and informal AGILE gatherings and self organizing groups that will explore topics of interest to the Rochester AGILE community. Help us help the community by joining the LinkedIN.com group “AGILE Rochester” for in depth conversations and look for future events through www.pmirochester.org under the “PMI Rochester Agile Community” on MeetUp.com.
