About The Event

Hosted by: PMI Rochester
Friday, September 13, 2019
St. John Fisher College

Purpose

The Project Management Day of Service (PMDoS) goal is to provide Non-profits with pro bono (free, professional) project management services to help them address their most difficult project challenges.

This is accomplished by bringing together local project managers (PMs) with Non-profits who are working hard to serve their communities. The PMs help the Non-profits to scope and plan projects that allow the Non-profits to do more to serve their communities.

The potential impact is enormous as those in a project manager role, oftentimes with little or no formal project management experience, have the opportunity for coaching by a certified PM during the day of service and to gain hands-on experience with a project from their organization.

We aim to advance the current understanding of the PMBOK and proven project management processes by exposing students to challenges and obstacles they might encounter as a project manager.

Event Schedule

Morning Session

An interactive presentation utilizing established curriculum from the PMI Educational Foundation (PMIEF) will be presented in a group setting for all participants. This will be a combination of lecture and exercises.

Afternoon Session

Breakout sessions for each Non-profit organization represented will be facilitated by experienced Project Managers. The tools and techniques presented in the morning session will be utilized by the participants to work on an actual project in their organization. (Project descriptions from each Non-profit will be provided in advance).

Cost

There is no cost to attend. All training materials, food/beverage, and free parking will be provided.
