Ithaca Branch

What is the Ithaca Branch?

The Ithaca Branch grew from a group of project managers from Cornell University that started meeting in 2009. What began as a special interest group expanded into a regional group of project manager professionals. As the group matured, a decision was made to pursue a formal relationship with PMI to better serve the region in support of the Project Management practice.  With help from the PMI Rochester Chapter President, the chapter by-laws were amended to include Ithaca as a formal Branch of PMI Rochester. The move has proven beneficial to members and the community alike, as it expanded the possibilities for valuable programs, as well as provided our members more opportunities for involvement in PMI activities (also helping our PMPs receive PDUs).

Since the branch was formalized in early 2011, we’ve grown from approximately 15-20 PMI members to just about 100 (as of this fall)!  Our membership reaches all over the Finger Lakes region, as well as across diverse industries, from manufacturing to medical care to higher education. We welcome anyone from around the Ithaca region that is interested in project management to get involved!

How do you join the Ithaca Branch?

First, join the PMI Rochester Chapter.  There is no additional registration step for you to take.  Once you've done that, the Ithaca Branch team monitors the New Members and by your geographical area, we include you as an Ithaca Branch Member.  If you're interested in being included in the Ithaca Branch and you're not in the Ithaca (and surrounding communities - Corning, Horseheads, etc.) area, send us a note at [email protected] and we'll add you to the Ithaca Branch membership list.

What's new for the Ithaca Branch?

We are rebuilding our presence in the Ithaca and surrounding areas.  We want to hear from you about what you, as PMI members, want to see offered in the Ithaca area - speakers, topics, professional development days, workshops, networking opportunities.  Reach out to us at [email protected] and share your ideas.

Interested in an Ithaca PDD in fall 2020? Give us your input!

We are assessing interest in holding a Professional Development Day (PDD) in Ithaca in the fall of 2020. If you would like to attend such an event, we want to hear from you! Please take a few minutes to fill out a brief survey and tell us what topics you’d like to see covered and what format would work best for you.

We are excited to be revitalizing PMI’s presence in Ithaca and invite you to be part of it! Fill out the Ithaca PDD 2020 Interest Survey today. Responses will be accepted through November 27, 2019.
