People are people everywhere in the world, with similarities in many ways.  However, cultural norms may have huge impact on behaviors, sensitivities, and communications.  Combining his long experience living and working in Asia with lessons from Chinese philosophical history, our speaker, Tom Watson, will share his thoughts on how to successfully lead multi-cultural teams.

Learning Objective:

Become more familiar with leading multi-cultural teams and learn how cultural norms impact behaviors

Tom Watson, a West Point graduate, is a senior corporate executive with over 35 years of experience in general management, marketing, engineering, town government, and the hospitality and service industries.   Tom honed his senior management skills during his time in Asia, working and living in Singapore and South Korea, ultimately leading the Asia Pacific business for KPG, a Kodak start-up business. He served in various Army active and reserve appointments with increasing command and staff responsibility, attaining the rank of Colonel.  Most recently, Tom applied the Academy Leadership philosophy and practices to deliver results  as a Town Councilman and to provide entrepreneurial leadership as a restaurant owner.  Having presented Academy Leadership programs to organizations in Asia and numerous U.S. cities, Tom's greatest interest is to share his leadership experience and expertise by developing managers into results-driven leaders.
