ROC THE PROJECT FINALE

Copy_of_ROCProjectLogo.jpg

ROC The Project is a competition designed to engage college students in the practice of project management and to develop their leadership skills. Student teams from colleges in the Rochester area are given a scenario for which they must provide a solution. They are assigned a PMP® certified mentor (or mentors) to teach them how to transform their solutions into project plans using the planning processes documented in the PMBOK. PMO panels are established to judge and provide feedback for each of the three phase-gates they must pass through before the final day of the competition. On the final event day, the top 5 student teams will present their project plans to the executive judges and the customer. This year we are focused on giving back to our community and have partnered with the M.K. Gandhi Institute for Nonviolence as our customer to resolve a problem statement drawn from the challenges faced by them. This is an exciting opportunity!

AGENDA:

9:30AM - 2:00PM Lunch and light breakfast included

PARKING AND DIRECTIONS:

When you come on campus, you will be parking in the Library Lot and the gates should be open, but in the event that they are not, we have secured a code for you at the Library Lot, so you will no longer need to stop at the info booth and can go straight to Library Lot when you come to campus, input the code and park.  You will need to put in the code including the # sign at the Library Lot Gate keypad.    If the Library Lot is full, the other blue circled area on the map is Intercampus Drive and you can park there (not code needed)

The code is 150502# (you must put the # after the number)

Directions to Library Lot

After you turn onto Wilson Boulevard from Elmwood (UR’s Main Entrance), the Library Lot where you will be parking is straight past the information booth, through the roundabout staying straight on Wilson Boulevard until the stop sign at Library Rd.  Turn right on Library Rd (at the stadium) and continue until the road T’s, just past the library.  Turn left at the stop sign and take your immediate next left into the Library Parking Lot entrance, where you will see a number pad to input the code above including the pound sign.

Directions from the Library Lot to the Simon School

Walk from the Library Lot along either the left or right side of the Library and go up the stairs to the Eastman Quadrangle.  Then walk along the left hand side of the quad, and when you get to the stairs, go down the stairs and the building directly in front of you is the Simon School’s Schlegel Hall.  Turn to the left and proceed to the first set of doors on the right in the Simon School building.  This will be the main entrance to Schlegel Hall (and you are on the 1st floor – ground level).  Proceed through the doors to the elevator lobby, and turn right.  Proceed down the spiral staircase and turn right to Schlegel 107 where the ROC the Project Session will be held.
